Candidates should possess three plus years of related experience, including experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia platforms, and Layers 2 & 3 switch and router configuration and troubleshooting. Advanced customer service, organizational interaction, and teamwork skills are required, along with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, and strong communication skills, both oral and written.
The Operations Technician II will monitor, maintain, and manage networks by opening trouble tickets and working to repair network element connectivity with field operations and other work groups. They will lead in driving equipment and facility repair, proactively anticipate problems, and take corrective action, understand and research technical issues through vendor documentation, and work with minimal supervision in a NOC environment. Additionally, they will maintain excellent acknowledgement and response time to alarms and customer calls, provide high-quality documentation of network failures and maintenance activity, analyze, diagnose, sectionalize, isolate, and resolve trouble situations, manage and correlate multiple trouble reports, manage and guide restoration bridges or calls, provide direct support to technicians in restoration activities, fulfill connection requests by configuring and testing ports, perform migration work, and troubleshoot central office connectivity (Ethernet, RS232, ISDN, X.25, Sync, and Async reverse telnet).
