Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Be at least 21 years of age
First Aid and CPR certification
Knowledge of ethnic and cultural differences within criminal justice populations
Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of incarceration; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of incarceration
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Possess excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

Supervises students during daytime and evening hours and notifies staff of any symptoms or signs of substance abuse of students and/or drug overdoses
Supervise students’ daily activities and assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of other staff
Documents and monitors regular bed checks as required
Communicate with other monitors in regards to daily activities or disturbances
Serves as an advisor and positive role model for students
Prevents and intervenes in student altercations and incidents
Conducts and practices emergency evacuation procedures
Assists in maintaining facility grounds and keeping equipment in proper working condition
Assist in maintaining facility and equipment clean, orderly, and proper working condition
Responsible for Critical Incidents and Incident reporting when occurs during scheduled shift
Up-loads clinical supportive documentation (i.e.: motivation logs, intensions forms, etc.)
Participates in community activities as it relates to the position and attends additional training as needed
Administers First Aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with state and federal regulations
