Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Knowledge of ethnic and cultural differences within criminal justice populations
  • Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of incarceration; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of incarceration
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervises students during daytime and evening hours and notifies staff of any symptoms or signs of substance abuse of students and/or drug overdoses
  • Supervise students’ daily activities and assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of other staff
  • Documents and monitors regular bed checks as required
  • Communicate with other monitors in regards to daily activities or disturbances
  • Serves as an advisor and positive role model for students
  • Prevents and intervenes in student altercations and incidents
  • Conducts and practices emergency evacuation procedures
  • Assists in maintaining facility grounds and keeping equipment in proper working condition
  • Assist in maintaining facility and equipment clean, orderly, and proper working condition
  • Responsible for Critical Incidents and Incident reporting when occurs during scheduled shift
  • Up-loads clinical supportive documentation (i.e.: motivation logs, intensions forms, etc.)
  • Participates in community activities as it relates to the position and attends additional training as needed
  • Administers First Aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Additional duties as assigned
