Requirements

  • Parenting or have parented a child with emotional, developmental, or complex health challenges
  • Experience navigating complex systems of services and benefits
  • Ability to model wellness and recovery, offering acceptance, hope, options, opportunities, problem solving, non-directive, and supportive peer services based on respect, mutuality, and similar or shared lived experiences
  • Work collaboratively with mental health and physical health care providers, police agencies, emergency departments, school personnel, and other social service agencies
  • Understand, appreciate, and respect diversity and cultural differences within the Cascadia community
  • Promote integrated care, trauma-informed and person-first approaches, and create a work environment of inclusion, safety, and acceptance
  • Comply with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain electronic health records of all client services and interactions
  • Report suspected child abuse in accordance with Oregon Statute
  • Assist in crisis situations following protocols and procedures
  • Respect and honor client rights

Responsibilities

  • Provide mobile support to parents and families experiencing emotional, developmental, or health challenges in Multnomah County
  • Assist parents to be confident in their skills and guidance for parenting a child, young adult experiencing emotional, developmental, or health challenges
  • Share lived experience to inspire hope and model positive outcomes for individuals or families
  • Assist individuals or families in developing and implementing communication, crisis, and safety plans
  • Offer guidance and referrals to families in accessing local resources such as housing, public benefits, education, and health services
  • Mentor skills related to parenting, positive communication, and self-care
  • Prepare individuals or families for treatment team planning, safety planning, and policy meetings; attend meetings with client families when needed/requested
  • Assist in completing applications and forms related to services (e.g., housing, insurance, education)
  • Provide culturally responsive services, particularly for historically underserved populations
  • Attend all FSS intake, team, needs assessment, and staff meetings while participating in safety planning and goal setting
  • Maintain a caseload in conjunction with assigned QMHP’s and QMHA’s
  • Perform other duties as assigned
