The Merchant Analytics team is dedicated to leveraging data and analysis to strengthen merchant relationships, drive product insights, and influence internal strategy. We are a collaborative group of motivated, fast-learning individuals who value diverse perspectives to innovate analysis approaches. Responsibilities

  • Scope and lead data analysis to demonstrate Upside's impact on merchant businesses, highlighting incremental profit drivers and answering key business questions.
  • Engage directly with merchant partners to understand their businesses and cultivate strong analytics relationships.
  • Manage and lead analysis projects to identify opportunities for product improvement, enhanced merchant acquisition strategy, and optimization of our two-sided marketplace.
  • Scale impactful analyses and information across merchants through scripting, sales enablement, and business intelligence tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Marketing to develop optimal solutions for communicating the sophistication of our technology to partners.
  • Pioneer new data and analysis strategies as Upside expands into new verticals.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in quantitative management consulting, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a field with a strong quantitative focus is preferred.
  • Proven ability to use analytical and communication skills to distill complex concepts and insights into clear, compelling explanations.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead analyses and cross-functional projects from start to finish.
  • Experience leading analyses that drive business decisions and presenting findings to key partners.
  • Experience using SQL to analyze and organize large, diverse datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) and programming languages (e.g., Python) is a plus but not required.
  • Client-facing experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in the Grocery, Restaurant, Fuel, or Retail industries is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to thrive in an ego-free, highly collaborative, and fast-paced startup environment.

Location & Work Schedule

  • Location: Austin, Chicago, DC, or NYC office.
  • Work Schedule: Hybrid. In-office attendance is required on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This may increase based on project needs and future policy changes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: US base salary range of $125,000 - $165,000, plus equity and benefits. The final starting pay will be determined by job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
