Requirements

  • Studying towards a Degree in an Engineering discipline (including General, Mechanical, Production/Manufacturing, Aeronautical/Aerospace), Materials Science or Technology Degree discipline
  • British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
  • Able to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS)

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on work experience interacting with hardware, using rapid prototyping facilities, external manufacture, assembly builds, and laboratory tests
  • Work collaboratively with other departments on common projects supported by technical specialists
  • Potentially gain experience in Mechanical Design (concept development through to manufacture using CAD tools, laboratory test programs)
  • Potentially gain experience in Mechanical Future Concepts (early stages of product lifecycle from concept generation to R&D studies)
  • Potentially gain experience in Mechanical Analysis (stress and thermal analysis using FEA tools and laboratory testing)
  • Potentially gain experience in Actuation Systems (electro-mechanical design of fin, wing, and seeker actuation systems in a multi-disciplinary, possibly international team)
  • Potentially gain experience in Materials and Processes (advise design teams on materials science principles, evaluate material compatibility, research novel materials, practical lab assessments)
