Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Science/Pharmaceutical/Engineering or relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience managing people within the pharmaceutical industry (at least 6 years for Diploma candidates)
  • Experience in aseptic processing is a plus
  • Proven knowledge of cGMP requirements in Biologics/Pharmaceutical plants
  • Strong process understanding and a continuous improvement approach

  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance

  • Compliance with Cleanroom requirements (no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc.)
  • Tolerance for Cold Room/Freezers (-22°F/-6°C), Laboratory Setting, Office, Warehouse, Strong Odors, and hazardous/toxic materials
  • No contact lenses allowed; prescriptive glasses will be provided
  • Some degree of PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the production team to achieve production schedule, output targets, yield efficiencies, and top-quality products promptly
  • Plan team activities to ensure adequate staffing and minimal disruption to workflow or process consistency
  • Ensure efficient, clear, and concise process handovers, maintaining a safe state
  • Develop, revise, and review SOPs as needed for routine production activities
  • Lead team training and development to foster a professional team environment
  • Verify detailed and accurate process documentation delivered by each shift
  • Resolve production issues and assist in investigations, focusing on process deviations and troubleshooting
  • Promote continuous improvement within the operation team
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and facility maintenance
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment readiness and accurate permit issuance
  • Support projects, technology transfers, and non-routine activities
  • Assist in recruiting operation staff and managing third-party contractors where necessary
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Manager
  • Uphold quality compliance across the team, ensuring adherence to SOPs and procedures
  • Participate in audits and inspections
  • Ensure timely batch record review and submission to QA
  • Liaise with the Quality Control Department regarding samples, tests, and resolving inconsistencies
  • Support the manager in planning and controlling budget performance, identifying cost needs for materials and human resources
  • Share production objectives, verify cost trends against the budget, analyze deviations, and propose corrective actions
  • Maintain adequate levels of consumables by defining minimum orders and coordinating with the warehouse
  • Collaborate with Planner/Buyer/procurement for sourcing and purchasing plant consumables and accessories
  • Communicate company policies, objectives, and results appropriately
  • Conduct on-the-job training for Technicians, incorporating cGMP, SOPs, and safety procedures
  • Handle grievances, counsel, and conduct team appraisals
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations by all operations employees and visitors
  • Promote awareness of safety and risk associated with chemicals, equipment, and processes in the area
