Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience of product engineering including strategy-concept-design-& production

  • Ability to build, grow, and maintain a team of highly skilled experts in electrification (motor, inverter, power electronics, and power conversion)
  • Self-driven attitude with curiosity for engineering excellence, proven record of leadership, issue resolution, conflict management, performance appraisal, and communication
  • Fundamental skills in electrical and mechatronics engineering with passion for electric mobility and automotive engineering
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automotive engineering
  • 12+ years of automotive industry experience
  • Experience in innovation leadership in automotive industry
  • Data analysis and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Skilled in using MS Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, traction electric machines, traction inverters, DC-DC converters, and on-board chargers
  • Strong understanding of power-transfer systems such as gears, differentials, power-flow layout, fluid dynamics, and thermal management
  • Strong understanding of automotive network communication and torque management
  • Strong understanding of physics-based modeling in MATLAB and Simulink environment
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and report generation
  • Strong understanding of electric vehicle torque and energy management schemes
  • Good understanding of testing, standards, and certification processes for electric vehicles, electric drives, and power conversion systems
  • Strong understanding of automotive vehicle engineering basics (materials, mechanisms, physics, and system mechanics)
  • Strong understanding of vehicle control systems and energy optimization methods

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Global Strength in Next Generation Technology Development for electric drive systems and energy conversion products for the global automotive market
  • Develop engineering teams, strengthen collaboration worldwide
  • Develop advanced product roadmaps, project ideation, project concept execution planning
  • Team building, retention, performance assessment
  • Customer engagement and understanding, alignment with business unit vision and strategy
  • Collaborate with competence centers for Electric Machines, Power Electronics, Software, and Driveline in developing future product vision and product demonstration ideas
  • Identify advanced product engineering key-indicators and benchmark technologies in electric mobility, develop engineering solutions to enhance existing product features and demonstrate future product features
  • Lead global teams and programs with diligence
  • Execute programs with strong program planning and program management methodologies
  • Represent BorgWarner in technology forums, conferences, and engineering events
  • Utilize technical and communication skills to articulate complex engineering problems
  • Lead programs relying on experience in writing product requirements and executing engineering work through product development V-cycle
  • Manage engineering budget for the group at the Shanghai – China Technical Center
