Requirements

  • Strong background in technical writing, ideally within a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business
  • Proven track record of managing and mentoring technical writing professionals
  • Expertise in creating concise and well-written technical product documentation, merchant-facing support articles, and API references
  • Passionate about technology and the role of well-written documentation in product integrations
  • Adept at navigating Agile workflows and advocating for Docs-as-Code processes
  • Confident with GitHub and static site generators
  • Familiarity with REST APIs (essential) and OpenAPI (OAS) specification (preferred)
  • Invested in exploring and utilising AI and automation to structure content and workflows
  • Experience leading and developing a small team of technical writers, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment
  • Portfolio demonstrating expertise in clear, human-centered documentation in American English
  • Experience in setting up advanced reporting and analytics processes/tooling
  • Experience in embedding research (self or external) into the content process
  • Experience with procurement
  • Understands larger product and domain strategy and can communicate it to the team
  • Ability to champion the discipline and represent the team with key stakeholders and cross-functional peers
  • Experience using and documenting APIs and complex software
  • Familiarity with managing a tech stack (custom site, self-hosted via AWS, React, Node.js, Next.js, Open API-compliant spec, Redocly)
  • Experience with discipline technologies (Docs-as-code, GitHub, Jira, ZenDesk)
  • Consistently puts users at the heart of the work and understands the value of technical documentation and support content in the user journey
  • Reviews work with care and attention to detail, providing constructive feedback

  • Shape the documentation strategy for the team's scope, aligning with product and domain strategy
  • Foster an environment where technical documentation advocates for users' success across platforms (Checkout.com Documentation, Merchant Support site, API reference)
  • Use AI and automation to improve processes and drive quality focus
  • Collaborate closely with team members of varying seniority across Design, Product, and Engineering
  • Represent the team in various cross-functional initiatives
