Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 7 Years of Process Engineering/Operations Support in a petroleum refinery setting (10+ years preferred)
  • Active TWIC card or ability to obtain a TWIC card
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Available in off hours and days to respond to refinery issues or emergencies, including on-call emergency response functions
  • Occasionally an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required (maintenance outages and turnarounds)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a department of up to twenty Process Engineers ranging from engineers with experience in multiple process unit technologies to recent college graduates (divided into two teams supervised by Lead Process Engineers)
  • Foster employee development, driving compilation of and accountability for training, career development, and succession plans
  • Participate in the PBF Energy circuit Process Engineering Manager network and allocate department resources for participation in circuit Best Practice Networks for various refining technologies (Distillation, Coking, Reforming, Hydrotreating, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, etc.)
  • Actively participate in refinery strategic optimization, cost efficiency identification/implementation, and ‘Oil Plan’ development, allocating Process Engineering resources to provide needed technical assurance for margin improvement, unit mass and yield balance, and unit constraint resolution
  • Set high standards for safety and operational excellence in compliance with site policies and procedures
  • Provide overall guidance and department accountability for proactive, comprehensive process unit monitoring to drive operational excellence and optimum process unit performance
  • Establish prioritization and ensure effective work process execution for scope development related to turnarounds, projects, and process changes across the entire refinery
  • Ensure effective delivery of technical and quality assurance by Process Engineering personnel for management of changes (MOCs) and Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)
  • Support day-to-day refinery process unit troubleshooting, mid-term, and long-term strategic planning by providing technical oversight and allocating department resources
  • Drive highly productive and mutually beneficial relationships with business partners, suppliers, and other refineries in the PBF Energy circuit
