Requirements

Location: UK (preferred); other locations in Europe considered on a case-by-case basis
Time Zone Collaboration: Must accommodate collaboration with teams in India, including occasional early morning meetings within standard UK/Europe working times
Leadership Experience: 3+ years leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading and developing talent in engineering teams in a high-autonomy, high-trust environment
Technical Background: At least 3 years of experience in Software Development, DevOps, or Cloud-Native engineering, with hands-on experience in Linux
Leadership & Coaching: Experience fostering a culture of learning and growth, mentoring engineers, and providing clear feedback for career development
Global Collaboration: Experience working for a US-centric company, collaborating across multiple time zones (Europe, US, India) in a distributed, remote environment
Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to anticipate future challenges, plan for growth, and align technical work with business goals

Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Lead and manage a remote team of engineers across India and Europe, setting clear goals, managing performance, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
Technical Contributions: Lead by example with hands-on technical work, including building new container images and process automation, using tools like Melange, apko, and Wolfi
Hiring and Team Building: Partner with recruiting to organize and lead interviewing, screening, and assessing candidates for technical skills and cultural fit
Backlog Management: Collaborate with the Technical Program Manager to prioritize and manage the image-building backlog, aligning tasks with immediate needs and long-term goals
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Customer Success, Sales, Partner Support, other engineering managers, go-to-market team, and occasionally customers to align efforts with needs and strategies
Forecasting and Planning: Anticipate work demands, project timelines, and resource needs (including headcount), and develop estimates and plans with senior management
