Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience working with manual lathes, mills, and grinders
  • A technical degree in Machine Shop is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of machine shop equipment
  • Good working knowledge of all types of CNC equipment
  • Prior experience in assembly or fabrication work using a blueprint
  • Knowledge of standard and metric blueprints and GD&T
  • Basic math and geometry skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Proficiency in G-code or conversational programming
  • Experience with programming software (Esprit, or MasterCam etc.) preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, when needed

Responsibilities

  • Operating and programming an NC Mill
  • Setting up machines and creating fixtures for individual parts
  • Determining appropriate speeds and feeds for different materials and tooling
  • Checking own parts using machine shop measuring instruments (OD/ID mic’s, calipers, depth mic’s, scales, tape measure)
  • Maintaining safe operation by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintaining continuity with partner on other shift by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Moving between machine or job assignments as workload shifts
