The Lead Visualisation Engineer will provide technical mentorship and direction to visualisation engineers, helping to elevate team capability and maintain engineering standards while promoting career growth. They will design, develop, and maintain robust Power BI solutions with scalable semantic models optimised for performance, usability, and governance, leveraging Power Platform capabilities for automation. Leading best practices in visualisation engineering and Power BI development, including DAX optimisation, query folding, and visual design standards, is key. Collaboration with Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Data Analysts to translate business requirements into scalable, performant data reporting solutions, ensuring alignment with data governance, security, and data quality standards, is a core duty. Balancing hands-on engineering with technical leadership to drive high-quality delivery, monitoring and optimising performance of Power BI reports and datasets, and acting as a technical SME within the visualisation domain to support community forums and platform adoption are also responsibilities. The role includes contributing to and shaping the overall data visualisation and reporting strategy at Asda, highlighting opportunities for streamlining with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and usability.
