Requirements

Prior basketball coaching experience
Bachelor's degree
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work PRN (as needed) hours

Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate the delivery of sports programs, including small group lessons, one-on-one lessons, camp offerings, and team training
Manage Avera Winter/Spring teams, including facilitating try-outs, scheduling, communication with parents and staff, and scheduling tournaments
Actively lead and implement sport program development, demonstrating working knowledge of training methods for the applicable sport
Establish rapport and work cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members (coaches, parents, athletic directors, physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers)
Oversee educational programs for athletes, parents, and coaches
Assist leader with staff education and knowledge sharing with coworkers
Communicate effectively with athletes, families, coaches, and other interdisciplinary team members regarding athlete’s status, progress, and needs
Promote Avera Sports programs and services within and outside the Avera network
Evaluate and make recommendations on comprehensive sports training and rehabilitation programming
Educate local and regional athletes, coaches, and parents on sports performance training programs
Educate and advise athletes, coaches, and community members on proper training program design
Coach seasonal sports teams as assigned
Use technology programs for registration, check-in, tracking athletes, and collecting payments
