Requirements

Candidates should possess over 5 years of DevOps/Platform experience, ideally within high-growth startups. Expert-level knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, CloudFormation, RDS, and CloudWatch is required, along with a proven history of deploying applications in production environments. A strong background in setting up CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions is necessary. Candidates must have a deep focus on developer enablement, experience implementing and scaling monitoring tools/APMs, and familiarity with Heroku, including experience leading large-scale migrations from PaaS to IaaS. Fluency in scripting and automation languages like Bash, Python, and Terraform is essential, as is clear communication ability to explain infrastructure tradeoffs and proactively support engineers.

Responsibilities

The Lead Platform Engineer will own the DevOps roadmap, architecting and leading the evolution of infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and developer workflows. They will drive the migration of infrastructure from Heroku to AWS, ensuring zero downtime and improving reliability and observability. Responsibilities include optimizing the developer experience by building tools and automated systems, enabling isolated feature testing through the design and automation of ephemeral testing environments, and setting up end-to-end monitoring and alerting systems to identify and address performance bottlenecks. Additionally, the role involves building secure, highly available systems prepared for rapid scaling.
