Requirements
Candidates should possess recent 3+ years of experience in an Engineering Management role, along with 5+ years of experience in system coding utilizing languages such as Go, Rust, C, or C++. They should have a background in developing databases or storage systems, and experience with virtual machines, Kubernetes, and distributed systems. Furthermore, experience in managing and scaling remote distributed teams across various time zones, coupled with proven coaching abilities including strong communication, emotional intelligence, and prioritization skills, is required.
Responsibilities
The Lead Engineer will manage a distributed team of 4 people, removing obstacles to enhance team productivity and foster a high-performing environment through coaching and development. They will participate in code reviews and dedicate approximately 50% of their time to low-level system coding, maintain a healthy on-call process, expand the team's impact through hiring, and contribute to building an efficient process that minimizes tech debt and improves code quality. Additionally, they will collaborate with tech leaders and products to plan and deliver experimental features, overseeing execution for predictable outcomes, and maintaining a data-driven approach with a focus on detail and continuous learning.
