Requirements

  • Ability to meet regularly with dialysis patients at clinic(s) in assigned region
  • Capability to educate patients on insurance options (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, COBRA)
  • Skills in obtaining premium statements, signatures, and necessary documents (e.g., for indigent waivers)
  • Proficiency in completing and following up on paperwork, applications, and disputed claims
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid processes, including eligibility verification, applications, terminations, reinstatements, open enrollment, and 30-month coordination period tracking
  • Ability to monitor and verify Medicaid status monthly, including spend down amounts
  • Competence in evaluating personal financial information for indigent program determinations
  • Skills in tracking, updating, and monitoring patients' insurance information for accuracy
  • Experience addressing anomalies, discrepancies, researching, and correcting billing system issues
  • Ability to prepare, analyze, and review monthly reports and patient audits
  • Capacity to provide monthly insurance status information and documentation to QA team
  • Willingness to complete monthly audit exams on internal policies
  • Comfort with desk work, personal computer use, and patient/staff interactions in a health care facility environment
  • Adherence to FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory, and company policy requirements

Responsibilities

  • Educate and coordinate insurance options with dialysis patients, including alternative options and application follow-through
  • Obtain premium statements, signatures, and discuss changes in employment or situations
  • Complete and follow up on disputed claims paperwork and indigent waivers (initial and annual)
  • Discuss insurance options upon contract terminations
  • Determine Medicare eligibility, assist with applications, act as liaison for terminations/reinstatements, and complete annual enrollment/reinstatement papers
  • Track 30-month coordination period for patients on employer Group Health Plans
  • Monitor and verify Medicaid status monthly, determining spend down amounts
  • Evaluate patient financial information for indigent program and complete waiver applications
  • Monitor all patients' insurance for accuracy and update Accounts Receivable Department
  • Address discrepancies, research, and answer questions
  • Meet with patients receiving direct insurance payments to ensure payment for dialysis treatments
  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly reports to track caseload progress and audit billing systems
  • Provide QA team with monthly patient insurance details and plans of action
  • Complete monthly audit exams
  • Present on insurance/financial assistance options as necessary
  • Assist with projects assigned by supervisor and other duties as assigned
