Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s preferred) from a Business or Engineering program (other majors and experience considered)
  • Or three plus years experience in an Inside Sales relatable position within the Industrial Fluid Process industry
  • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, mechanical assemblies, gauges, valves, instrumentation, steam traps and/or strong mechanical aptitude (preferred)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical procedures; write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, commissions, proportions, percentages, and convert standard measurements to metric
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Prophet 21 (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding service to customers and support to outside sales staff
  • Answer telephone calls or respond to customer correspondence regarding technical questions on products or systems
  • Engage in technical discussions to obtain information, identify correct product needed, and advise on substitutions or modifications
  • Select and specify products based on customer application and design prerequisites
  • Confer and correspond with service technicians, managers, or manufacturers to resolve unusual or complex technical problems (refer highly complex issues to Applications Specialist or Manager)
  • Supply detailed product quotations by computing price, discount, and shipping charges within company guidelines
  • Inform customers of pricing, back orders, delivery, delayed shipments, order issues, and provide tracking information
  • Obtain purchase order number and/or credit card information from customers
  • Confer with Accounting to research and resolve invoicing or credit discrepancies
  • Attend sales meetings or educational activities to stay up-to-date on technical developments
