Requirements

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in garment creation, sample making, or prototype construction within the outdoor, ski, performance, or other technical apparel space, with experience in both technical outerwear and high-performance sportswear strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience building complex, high-quality samples with minimal direction and familiarity with patterning software are required, along with advanced technical skills in garment and soft goods patterning, cutting, and sewing. Proficiency with industrial sewing machines, seam sealers, cutting tools, and other fabrication equipment, along with a strong understanding of stitching techniques and bonding methods, is necessary. Familiarity with technical trims and closures, ability to troubleshoot construction issues, high attention to detail, and strong written communication skills are also required. A portfolio or photos of previous sample work is required as part of the application.

Responsibilities

The Innovation Sample Creator will be responsible for the hands-on construction of prototype apparel and equipment, including patterning, cutting, sewing, and finishing samples using advanced techniques and materials. They will translate early-stage concepts into functional prototypes for technical outdoor products by interpreting sketches, CADs, and technical specifications. The role involves operating and maintaining industrial sewing equipment, seam-sealing machines, cutting machines, and other specialized tools, and utilizing a wide range of stitching and bonding techniques. The Sample Creator will collaborate with Design, Product Development, Materials, and R&D teams to creatively problem-solve, refine construction methods, and improve build outcomes.
