Requirements

  • Must be local to Illinois State
  • Junior or Senior specializing in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health and Sustainability, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient in MS Excel (advanced functionality), MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Critical thinking skills and high degree of organization
  • Analytical skills, initiating ideas, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities
  • Health, safety and/or environmental experience is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Work with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist and plant team leaders (Supervisors, Engineers, Millwrights, etc.) to help drive progress with the Life Critical Program (LCP)
  • Assist the HSE Specialist with a complete review of all current needs for the LCP and ensure affected departments have the tools they need to be successful
  • Work with department members to take pictures, write Safety Work Instructions (SWIs), and complete relevant data entry for safety concerns
  • Collect and analyze data from the floor to be communicated and/or documented
  • Review, develop, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist and lead the cultural transformation regarding Health, Safety, and Environment to help the plant achieve zero accidents and incidents
  • Provide vision and support for 5S implementation; facilitate improvement efforts
