Responsibilities

  • Implement HR Policies and Procedures for the Retail Division across assigned locations
  • Provide consultation to Retail Management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, training and development, and employee relations
  • Develop, organize, and facilitate HR best practices and programs to meet strategic business needs of Retail Operations
  • Direct development and implementation of organizational development programs such as succession planning, employee orientation, and training programs
  • Ensure compliance with Japanese laws and keep all markets current with legislation
  • Provide guidance and education to Retail Management on legal implications of HR issues (recruitment, contracts, working practices, discipline, grievances, morale)
  • Educate Retail Management on policies and best practices across people management
  • Guide Retail Operations Team to resolve employee dissatisfaction, offering courses of action
  • Assist in improving morale and performance through company recognition programs and initiatives
  • Work with Retail Management to ensure effective recruiting strategies and assess internal candidates
  • Analyze turnover data (from HR Dashboard, succession plans, exit interviews, surveys) to improve turnover and retention
  • Provide leadership and support on policy interpretation, employee relations, performance management, and internal investigations
  • Recognize compliance issues and advise on solutions/best practices
  • Establish training on safety at stores in line with local legal requirements
  • Review and evaluate termination, corrective action, and performance management processes for documentation and non-discrimination
  • Monitor and review compensation and benefits guidelines and exceptions
  • Liaise with Financial Controllers for accurate payroll processing and administration
  • Work with legal advisors on conflict resolution and claims
  • Assist in launch and review of employee handbooks
  • Manage other HR-Retail related projects as assigned
  • Maintain open communication channels with employees at all levels
  • Practice good communication skills and adhere to code of business conduct and asset protection policies
