Expertise in heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and trailer maintenance, inspection, and repair
Thorough understanding of the DVSA “Goods Vehicle Inspection Manual” and the “Categorization of Defects manual”
Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks and repairs on vehicles (3500kg–44,000kg GVW) and trailers to the highest standards, conforming to DVSA and Health and Safety Executive requirements
Understanding of complex electrical and pneumatic systems
Ability to interpret technical data, schematic diagrams, diagnostic guides, and remedial action plans
Ability to apply investigative and analytical techniques to rectify equipment defects
Competency in accurately completing documentation using paper and electronic systems for legal compliance
Willingness to work primarily at Didcot site, with potential travel within UK and Ireland, including roadside or vendor premises
Commitment to safety, efficiency, and high operational standards (implied for ideal candidate)
Responsibilities
Performing routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on vehicles and trailers
Developing expertise in cryogenic vehicle maintenance through on-the-job training
Servicing and maintaining cryogenic delivery systems in vehicles
Ensuring maintenance and repairs comply with DVSA, Health and Safety Executive, and other regulatory standards
Conducting inspections and rectifying defects using investigative and analytical techniques
Accurately recording all maintenance tasks using paper and electronic documentation systems
Working as part of a small team in the Fleet Maintenance Workshop in Didcot, with flexibility for work at other locations as required
