A qualification in a recognized food/science/quality discipline is desirable, along with previous experience in the food distribution or manufacturing environment at a Quality Assurance level. Candidates should possess knowledge of food-related law and industry standards, experience in food safety and quality procedures and policies, and an understanding of customer requirements. Essential skills include good communication and influencing abilities, a motivated attitude with a can-do approach, teamwork with the ability to work independently, integrity, accountability, flexibility in handling multiple tasks, customer focus, excellent communication and computer skills, and strong organizational skills.
The Quality Assurance Assistant will be responsible for monitoring and verifying food safety and quality policies within the Belfast distribution center. Key duties include driving fresh produce quality management from receipt to customer delivery, monitoring the quality and safety of food products and key processes, and ensuring HACCP implementation and verification. The role involves conducting internal audits, maintaining records according to corporate and auditing standards, carrying out product and process inspections, investigating and reporting customer complaints in a timely manner, verifying test equipment, and implementing corrective and preventative actions. The assistant will also report food safety, quality, and compliance issues to the Team Lead, drive continuous improvement, act as an ambassador for food safety culture, and support operations and sales teams regarding food safety and quality management, along with other ad-hoc duties.
