Position Overview

Keeper Security is seeking an experienced Identity Standards Architect to lead our engagement with global identity standards organizations. This role is crucial for driving the adoption of cutting-edge authentication protocols across our platform. The position is 100% remote, with an option for a hybrid schedule for candidates residing near our Chicago global headquarters.

Keeper Security is a rapidly growing cybersecurity company trusted by millions worldwide, offering award-winning, zero-trust, and zero-knowledge security solutions. We are looking for a leader to guide our customers through the technical landscape of our products and contribute to the future of digital identity.

About the Role

As the Identity Standards Architect, you will be the primary representative for Keeper Security within influential international identity and security standards bodies such as the FIDO Alliance, W3C, IETF, and NIST. Your responsibilities will include active participation in working groups, contributing to protocol drafts, and advocating for Keeper’s technical vision. You will also build and foster relationships within the broader identity ecosystem.

Internally, you will act as a trusted advisor and hands-on leader, guiding our engineering and product teams in implementing secure, standards-compliant authentication and access controls. Your expertise will ensure Keeper’s privileged access solutions remain interoperable, forward-compatible, and influential in shaping the next generation of identity protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Keeper Security in industry standards organizations including FIDO, W3C, IETF, and NIST.
  • Participate in working groups, draft reviews, and specification development efforts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with identity ecosystem leaders, partners, and contributors.
  • Translate evolving identity standards into technical guidance and implementation best practices for Keeper’s developers.
  • Partner with engineering to ensure our implementations are secure, standards-aligned, and future-proof.
  • Prototype and validate new protocol features (e.g., FIDO2/WebAuthn passkeys, hardware-bound credentials).
  • Provide expertise across key identity protocols including FIDO2, WebAuthn, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and SCIM.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align roadmaps with emerging standards.
  • Present Keeper’s vision and progress at industry events, technical summits, and security conferences.
  • Travel to attend working group meetings and conferences (approx. 25–40%).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in identity standards, security protocols, or federated authentication systems.
  • Active participation in one or more identity standards bodies (FIDO Alliance, IETF, W3C, NIST, etc.).
  • Proven contributions to protocol development, specification writing, or working group participation.
  • Strong technical understanding of authentication and identity protocols (FIDO2, WebAuthn, OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, SCIM).
  • Experience guiding developers in implementing secure, standards-based authentication systems.
  • Ability to write technical documentation and implementation playbooks.
  • Proficiency with at least one scripting or prototyping language (Python, JavaScript, Go preferred).
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and strategic audiences.
