Advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems for heavy equipment and vehicles
Knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems
Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems for diagnosing and repairing complex systems
Knowledge of welding tools for fixing heavy equipment
Ability to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on-site and on the road
Ability to road test vehicles to determine necessary repairs
Experience supervising technician teams (A, B, C level, and lead technicians)
Responsibilities
Supervise technician team responsible for preventive maintenance/repair of fleet (trucks - diesel and alternate fuel), containers, heavy duty equipment, post-collection facility machinery, and container shop equipment
Provide direction to technicians to ensure all repairs/maintenance comply with company safety/compliance standards and federal/state regulations
Plan and schedule repair work to ensure safe and timely completion, reducing lost productivity
Monitor operational performance/efficiency and redirect activities as needed
Report to management on performance and recommend process/programmatic improvements
Conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, coaching/counseling/training, performance evaluations, and make hiring/termination decisions with HR/management
Evaluate and recommend merit increases, promotions, and job changes
Perform inspections of outside repairs and follow up to ensure compliance
Identify training opportunities, document issues, and discuss corrective actions
Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues/resolutions for compliance
Oversee repair diagnostics on complex matters, provide coaching, and road test vehicles
