Position Overview

  • Location Type: Primarily Albany area, with occasional travel to Malta, Mid-Hudson valley, and Burlington VT (25-50% travel)

  • Brief Description: This role involves on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated electron microscopy equipment for customers in various industries. The position requires strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to travel frequently.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.
  • Technical Skills: Detailed understanding and extensive experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to deal effectively with customers, excellent interpersonal skills, and a professional working proficiency in English. Consistent record of fixing sophisticated systems and subsystems down to the component level.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site installation of sophisticated equipment and follow testing procedures.
  • Provide diagnosis and repair support for customers and other field personnel.
  • Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits.
  • Diagnose and repair complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.
  • Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel.
  • Provide training to customers and users on system maintenance.
  • Complete and submit field service reports, provide guidance for various reports, and update system documentation.
  • Act as a subject expert and resource for training.
  • Provide feedback to product quality teams identifying and isolating outstanding problems with the system.
