Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a recognized craft apprenticeship in electrical engineering with demonstrated field experience
  • High-level knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems for industrial equipment; ideally knowledge of networking systems such as Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fiber
  • Self-reliant, resourceful, problem-solver with well-developed commercial awareness
  • Experienced in representing the company at customer sites, operating remotely on own initiative, and adhering to the company's Code of Conduct
  • Ability to follow company health and safety rules, including safe systems of work for high and medium voltage electrical systems in heavy industrial environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, 75%-85% of the time or as business needs dictate

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning high voltage generators, motors, synchronous condensers, power management systems (PMS), electrical protection systems, excitation controllers (AVRs), and synchronizing equipment
  • Applying company health and safety procedures at job sites, such as HV safety, lock out tag out, permit to work systems, and risk/method statements
  • Conducting upgrades to AVRs, PMS systems, synchronizers, protection relays, and other control elements
  • Performing electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field (e.g., Polarization Index, Insulation resistance, Ductor tests)
  • Practicing project management at sites
  • Delivering training on Brush products to clients and field service colleagues
  • Interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and requirements; attending technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises
  • Carrying out commissioning, installation, repair, maintenance, and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and associated control equipment at customer sites in the US and abroad
