Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, OR Diploma in Engineering or Biology with significant diagnostics experience (Molecular Biology background is a strong advantage)
  • Minimum of 3 years as a Medical Technologist in the diagnostic market
  • Hands-on experience with lab automation, LIS/connectivity, molecular diagnostics, and microbiology techniques
  • Strong background in technical support and customer training in clinical diagnostics
  • Experience engaging with KOLs in Zambia and generating commercial leads (experience in Africa is an advantage)
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Strong presentation and communication abilities (one-on-one and group)
  • Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and calm under pressure
  • Solid problem-solving, organizational, and networking skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce preferred)
  • Strong time management, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to compliance standards
  • Willingness to spend ~80% of time on-site with customers
  • Valid motor vehicle license
  • Travel within Zambia, with some regional and occasional global travel
  • Flexibility to work after hours and weekends when required
  • Comfortable working in laboratory environments with moderate-to-loud noise levels

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cepheid systems
  • Support laboratories during system integration, workflow optimization, validation, and accreditation
  • Deliver effective training on instruments, software, reagents, and connectivity solutions
  • Record all activities (installations, trainings, service visits, follow-up) in SFDC; share market intelligence with leadership
  • Perform proactive preventive maintenance, modifications, repairs, and de-installations
  • Manage spare parts inventory, including car stock
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve escalations and provide corrective actions
  • Partner with Sales Representatives to design and execute account strategies to accelerate business growth
  • Generate demand by supporting testing on the installed base and identifying new assay opportunities
  • Assist HBDC sales teams with pre- and post-sales technical activities within Zambia and across Southern Africa
  • Conduct technical demonstrations, product presentations, and workshops to increase adoption
  • Complete all required training assignments on time
  • Deliver customer and staff training programs consistently
  • Share technical insights and best practices with colleagues
