Executive Recruiter

Position Overview

As Marqeta’s Executive Recruiter, you will own in-house recruiting for roles ranging from Director to Senior Vice President, across all divisions of the company. You will also serve as a member of the Talent Acquisition and Experience Leadership Team, advising on key decisions related to hiring strategy, process improvement, and modeling best-in-class recruiting practices for fellow recruiters.

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company, allowing you to choose your best working environment. To support this, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location within the United States, categorized into three tiers:

  • National: A baseline tier for most geographic territories.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated for higher cost-of-living areas (e.g., Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA).
  • Premium Plus: For the most expensive working areas (e.g., San Francisco Bay Area, New York City).

When determining salaries, we consider factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $153,000 - $191,300
  • Premium: $162,700 - $203,400
  • Premium Plus: $176,900 - $221,100

Marqeta also believes in recognizing contributions through annual bonuses for eligible employees.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of recruiting for roles across the company, ranging from Senior Director to Senior Vice President.
  • Partner with C-level and S/VP-level leaders to align on their needs and effectively find, engage, and close talent for these positions.
  • Regularly provide market insights on executive talent trends and availability in Marqeta's global and regional markets.
  • Serve as the face of Talent Acquisition to leaders at all levels within the company and represent Marqeta to the most senior talent in the market.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of recruiting experience, with at least 2 years of in-house executive search experience at a technology company.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently source and close executive positions in both technical and non-technical job families.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to reliably deliver actionable insights about the executive talent market for a given job family / industry.
  • Exceptional advisory and collaboration skills, able to rapidly build trust with a company’s seniormost executives and influence their talent strategy.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to serve as a role model for more junior recruiting colleagues.

How You’ll Start (First Quarter Expectations)

  • Develop a deep understanding of Marqeta’s business and divisions.
  • Provide actionable market insights related to executive roles open at the time of your start.
  • Build robust self-sourced pipelines for all executive positions open at the time of your start, with your first hire either closed or reaching final stages.
  • Establish rapport and trust with C-level executives, their directs, and their HR business partners.
  • Draft an executive hiring strategy optimized for minimizing third-party agency use and elevating the hiring bar for senior leaders and their successors.
