Requirements

  • Qualified attorney with 10+ years of experience and at least three years of working in-house within financial services
  • Deep understanding of U.S. securities law and exchange rules, with a working knowledge of major global frameworks
  • Experienced with supporting and advising on the trading of listed options
  • Clear, concise communicator who can translate complex rules into practical guidance

Responsibilities

  • Providing real-time legal advice to options trading and market making business on exchange rules, securities laws, and other points of regulatory interpretation
  • Working on options-related regulatory inquiries, examinations, and investigations
  • Monitoring regulatory developments with a focus on options-related rulemakings and interpretations, and summarizing impacts for stakeholders
  • Providing direct legal support to the desk on new business initiatives
  • Drafting, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures, and advising on the build-out and maintenance of control frameworks
  • Coordinating with Legal and Compliance team colleagues across regions to ensure consistent, scalable approaches
  • Contributing to training and policy work, including engagements with industry groups where appropriate
  • Helping to build and foster Jane Street’s relationships with options exchanges and other regulators
