Candidates must have experience managing engineering teams responsible for infrastructure, platform, or developer-facing tools. A strong technical background in systems engineering, cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, OpenStack, etc.), and developer platform architecture is required. Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and product-oriented development in open communities or large-scale developer ecosystems is essential. Excellent communication and facilitation skills, especially in distributed and asynchronous environments, are necessary. Hiring will only occur within UTC-3 to UTC+3.
The Engineering Manager will lead a team in building and maintaining the core services for Toolforge and associated developer platforms, such as the shared Jupyter notebooks platform. They will simplify the full tool lifecycle to enable contributors to build and maintain tools without needing to become sysadmins. The role involves driving the transition of Toolforge to production-level reliability using technologies like Kubernetes and Helm, and collaborating with product, SRE, developer advocacy, and community contributors to deliver high-impact improvements. Additionally, the manager will set direction, unblock work, ensure delivery against goals, and hire and develop a high-performing, inclusive engineering team.
