Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a Master's degree preferred, and 8-12 years of experience in cloud platform design and development. A minimum of 8 years of experience building platforms with Java, MySQL, Spring Boot, and Hibernate is required, along with 5+ years of experience with observability platforms like DataDog, AppDynamics, or Prometheus, and 5+ years of experience with data modeling and relational databases. Additionally, 3+ years of experience managing fully remote teams in a startup environment is necessary, alongside demonstrated experience in designing and implementing scalable cloud or mobile solutions and a proven track record in timely product delivery and problem-solving. Preferred qualifications include experience with public cloud services, 5+ years of leading scrum teams, JavaScript, Angular or React UX framework experience, and 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes or other containerization/orchestration platforms.

Responsibilities

The Director of Engineering, Platform will lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's cloud platform infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and security. This role involves hiring, building, mentoring, and managing a globally-distributed engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Key duties include providing strategic direction, defining and measuring engineering OKRs, and being hands-on with Java coding and peer code reviews. Responsibilities also encompass generating and implementing process improvements, enabling product, quality, and UX performance, ensuring platform security and compliance, and staying updated on cloud technologies. The Director will interface with customer success and implementation teams to resolve issues and participate in the Incident Management on-call rotation.
