Candidates should have at least 5 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a direct people management role. Strong experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable APIs and backend services, particularly with modern Python frameworks like FastAPI or Flask, is highly desirable. Proven track record in building and maintaining complex third-party integrations, direct experience with Accounting/ERP systems such as NetSuite or QuickBooks Online, and familiarity with integration platforms or iPaaS tools are significant advantages. A strong understanding of distributed systems, microservice architecture, API-first design principles, agile development practices, CI/CD, test automation, observability, and reliability are also required.
This role involves leading and mentoring a team of 6-8 software engineers, providing coaching for technical excellence, and fostering career growth. The Engineering Manager will define the technical direction and lifecycle of internal and external APIs, establishing best practices for design, documentation, security, and versioning. Responsibilities include guiding the development of scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI, driving the integration roadmap with key Accounting/ERP systems using iPaaS tools, and acting as a force multiplier for the engineering department by providing necessary tools and infrastructure. The manager will also forge key partnerships with Product Management and external stakeholders, and mentor senior engineers and team leads to develop future leaders.
