Engineering Manager, Embedded Equipment Monitoring
Position Overview
Motive Technologies is seeking an experienced and ambitious Engineering Manager to lead the development of new product driver equipment monitoring features. This role requires a leader with architectural thinking, a vision for technical direction, and the ability to execute implementation plans while managing an engineering team.

Responsibilities
- Define and implement a technology vision for building new product features for equipment monitoring.
- Manage the product and business outcomes of the engineering teams.
- Develop a long-term product roadmap in collaboration with product teams.
- Lead technical design discussions, collaborating with Device Software, Product, Backend, AI, and Data Science teams.
- Drive the execution, launch, and daily operations of functionalities for internal/external customers with high quality.
- Introduce and continuously evolve cutting-edge development, release, and operations processes.
- Develop, document, and improve best practices and coding standards.
- Hire, manage, and develop a diverse team of highly qualified Engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development.
- Contribute to development tasks (coding, feature verification) as needed to assist teams and deepen understanding of the codebase and business processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in Embedded Software Engineering, focusing on cameras or embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience with Linux-based multimedia embedded systems.
- Proficient in C/C++ coding skills.
- Experience implementing and optimizing algorithms on connected devices.
- Experience deploying device software on large-scale devices in the field.
- 3+ years of experience managing teams of 10+ engineers.
- 5+ years of experience building high-scale distributed systems for a product company.
- Ability to perform architectural work, including developing technical designs and defining requirements based on business needs.
- Proven track record as a nimble and proactive thinker and doer in an excellence-driven environment.
- High comfort level with short release cycles, owning the full software lifecycle, and experience with products for public consumption.
- Passion for continuous experimentation, learning, and improvement.
- Demonstrated success in leading technical initiatives and partnering with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of what constitutes a strong, healthy, and productive Engineering culture.
- Strong track record as an individual contributor with a willingness to contribute to coding when needed.
- Strong experience with embedded C/C++, RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr).
