Requirements

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Electronics or a related technical discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience in an electronics/electrical focused role
  • A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in designing and fabricating electronic systems
  • Proficient in making precision compression and soldered connections for both power and signal wiring applications
  • Skilled in the use of soldering tools and compression terminals to ensure high-reliability connections
  • Experience in writing scientific, technical, quality assurance, and health & safety documents
  • Extensive experience in implementing organizational quality assurance plans and quality management practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening
  • Committed to continuous learning and skill development to enhance performance and adapt to evolving technologies
  • Highly motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely and effectively use hand and power tools

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of prototype electronic sensor packages to support various research initiatives
  • Design and implement precision compression and soldered connections for both power and signal wiring applications
  • Use soldering tools and compression terminals to ensure high quality, reliable connections capable of passing standard electrical codes
  • Utilize electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) to evaluate and troubleshoot electrical wiring and system performance
  • Design and implement small-scale solar power systems to support field instrumentation
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic devices and instrumentation, both in the lab and in field environments
  • Support 3D printing operations, including file preparation, material selection, and printer maintenance/troubleshooting
  • Interpret and work from schematics, technical drawings, and conceptual guidance from researchers
  • Build, test, and maintain both field-deployed and benchtop equipment and instrumentation
  • Fabricate custom communication cables tailored to specific instrumentation requirements
  • Lead and support an onsite client-site electronics shop while providing design and development expertise of prototype electronic sensor packages
