Requirements
No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial driver’s license (CDL)
Ability to commit to twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL (1-year contractual agreement)
Availability for Monday - Friday schedule with early start time, occasional Saturday work, and required attendance at 1-week company-paid CDL training course in Dallas, TX
Responsibilities
Successfully complete Republic Services’ CDL training program, including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and using provided resources (including loan of a truck) to pass the state CDL examination
Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL
Learn to perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of the assigned vehicle per Company policy, ensuring tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are operational, and report safety issues
Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along designated routes to disposal sites, read route sheets, follow maps, and service customers as assigned
Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls per safety policies to lift/load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of material at designated facilities
Learn to identify unsatisfactory waste containers, tag them per departmental procedures, and monitor waste for unacceptable materials
Continuously monitor assigned vehicle condition to ensure operational readiness, clean waste from packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip, and minimize downtime
Follow all required safety policies and procedures
After obtaining CDL, perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the Company’s lines of business (Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off)
