Requirements

  • BA/BS required (BS in Engineering or a related field is preferred)
  • MBA is a plus
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification desirable

Responsibilities

  • Manage all capital procurement globally, including Investment Recovery program, Construction, Engineering Services, and Production Equipment (over $1.3B of spend)
  • Drive "One Abbott Procurement" vision across divisions globally and influence synergies among divisions
  • Work closely with key stakeholders in Corporate and Division organizations to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans
  • Nurture stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, identifying critical business requirements, and providing sourcing and procurement services that exceed expectations
  • Leverage market and supplier knowledge to drive lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Represent Abbott strategically in the industry and community
  • Proactively identify new business opportunities, process improvements, and cost efficiencies
  • Provide insight to business units on developing and leveraging supplier capabilities
  • Serve as primary point of contact for overall category needs and prioritize demand globally across the category
  • Balance organizational and divisional priorities with spend profile, influencing decisions that protect company assets
  • Understand business requirements, challenges, priorities, must-win battles, and key value drivers; transform into category sourcing strategies
  • Confirm business objectives, challenges, projects, requirements, and expectations; translate into category strategic planning processes and solutions
  • Provide compelling category and sourcing insights to contribute to business strategies
  • Lead a team of direct reports and influence dotted line reports in other parts of the world or within divisions
  • Drive value creation by identifying cost improvement opportunities, presenting to divisional leadership for prioritization, resourcing, and implementation; align with regional teams and drive execution
  • Own and measure cost improvement targets and projects; report to key business stakeholders
  • Enable supplier evaluation processes, KPIs definition, and monitoring
  • Research supply base, industry, and marketplace
  • Conduct analysis on industry, regional, and divisional requirements and suppliers
  • Lead development of global benchmarks and understand category industry dynamics with peers to bring best practices
  • Guide stakeholders on structuring and implementing RFQs/RFIs/RFPs to obtain best-in-class supplier capabilities
  • Provide support during vendor screening and selection process
  • Develop and drive fact-based negotiation strategies with high-profile vendors
  • Work with legal and business functions to execute Master Service Agreements and Statements of Work
  • Recommend process improvements to streamline efficiencies
  • Communicate issues to leadership while driving resolution
  • Utilize technology and tools effectively
