Senior Director, People Business Partner (Federal)

Position Overview

Workday is seeking a Senior Director, People Business Partner to join our global team. This role will focus on leading talent strategy for the Federal Team, supporting business growth and scaling within this sector. You will be part of the People Business Partner team within the Business Partner & Rewards organization, partnering with Senior Leaders across the enterprise. We are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, outcome-focused environment with a bias for action, demonstrating strong collaboration, speed in execution, and a balance of strategic thinking and implementation.

About the Role

This position supports contracts with the U.S. Federal Government. Please note: Due to federal government security requirements, all Workday personnel working on these contracts must be United States citizens (naturalized or native).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consultative: Manage strong relationships, facilitate thoughtful dialogue, think strategically, and advise on People & Talent strategy.
  • Problem Solves: Identify problem sources, develop solutions, and implement them in partnership with HR Centers of Excellence.
  • Hands-on Support: Provide executive coaching, workforce planning, and talent management initiatives such as succession planning and leadership development.
  • Business Acumen: Think like a business leader with a deep understanding of HR fundamentals and embody Workday’s culture and core values.

About You

We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of HR and the ability to enhance business performance through the creation of People Strategies.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and a motivation to create clarity and alignment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the capacity to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences and deliver confidently through engaging presentations.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior leaders, including knowing when to challenge and when to disagree and commit.
  • A track record of leveraging data and insights (internal and external) to inform opinions and strategies.

Critical Requirements:

  • A bias for action; this team creates results and leans in where Workday needs support.
  • Highly organized with the ability to ruthlessly prioritize work.
  • Ability to handle advanced responsibilities.
