Requirements

The Director, Field Operations should have experience leading installation and repair efforts for residential and enterprise customers, as well as network maintenance. Strong leadership and collaboration skills are necessary to manage multiple organizations with direct and indirect reporting structures. Experience in a hybrid role, based in North Carolina, with a multi-state regional field force of approximately 600 technicians, 30 supervisors, and 6 managers is required. The role also necessitates involvement in union negotiations, acting as the primary regional field operations point of contact in partnership with corporate labor teams. Proven ability to motivate employees, arrange for adequate personnel training, manage multiple activities in a rapidly changing technological environment, and select competent leaders according to legal, corporate, and department hiring guidelines is essential. Experience developing an effective staff through motivation, training, performance management, and evaluation is also required.

Responsibilities

The Director, Field Operations will oversee a regional, multi-state field force responsible for internet and telephony service provisioning and network maintenance, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety. This role involves serving as the Senior Leadership Team's point of contact for large events such as outages, marketing, and local knowledge for engineering projects. The Director will be actively involved as the Regional Field Ambassador for community and organizations that help strengthen communities and the Brightspeed brand. Internally, responsibilities include coordinating input and completion of projects with all division departments, assisting in strategic planning to deliver company goals, maintaining open communication, and resolving employee relations issues. Externally, the Director will interact with customers and outside contractors to answer questions and resolve problems, engage with community representatives to promote the company, and communicate with other telecommunications companies to share information. Key duties include motivating employees to provide excellent service at the lowest cost, keeping up with modern technology, determining the best long-term solutions within budget, and maintaining positive relationships with customers, community organizations, service groups, and government entities. The role also involves contributing to the company's financial objectives through efficient administration of sales marketing programs.
