The Director, Engineering - Clinical Products requires a strong background in building and scaling engineering organizations, driving team planning and delivery, and ensuring the technical and operational excellence required in a regulated healthcare environment. Candidates should have experience in managing managers and leading multiple engineering teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, with a track record of successful planning, consistent execution, and on-time delivery of complex software projects. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential, along with experience in medical device software, including visualization, UI architecture, cloud services, algorithm development and integration.
This role involves leading and growing multiple engineering teams through engineering managers, setting clear goals and ensuring alignment to strategic objectives. It requires driving successful quarterly and long-range planning efforts, balancing innovation with execution, and ensuring engineering teams consistently meet delivery commitments. The Director will also ensure engineering teams are executing with high quality, predictable velocity, and attention to operational reliability, while hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineering and management talent, building an inclusive, high-performance team culture. Key responsibilities include mentoring and guiding engineering managers, providing technical leadership across medical device software, collaborating with product, clinical, design, and research teams to build seamless user experiences, and partnering with other engineering leaders to evolve system architecture and ensure cross-team alignment. Contributing hands-on to design when appropriate, especially in areas of high impact such as architecture, rendering pipelines, or clinical data visualization, is also a part of the role.
