Requirements

Candidates should have several years of experience at a Staff level or higher, demonstrating success in scaling production systems and designing extensible, composable service architectures. They should possess deep experience with TypeScript and Node.js, along with a polyglot mindset and familiarity with languages such as Go, Rust, and Python. Mastery of PostgreSQL or equivalent RDBMS, event-driven patterns, and cloud-native infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure) is required, alongside a track record of embedding observability and reliability engineering into workflows. Experience running monorepos and designing build pipelines for frequent deployments is also necessary, and a strong plus is hands-on experience integrating LLM or AI services into production systems.

Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will architect the Wander’s core platform, defining and evolving the technical north star for booking, pricing, property-ops, and homeowner systems. You will raise the engineering bar by driving clear patterns for service boundaries, observability, testing, and CI/CD, mentoring and uplifting staff and senior engineers, and leading cross-functional initiatives with product and data teams. Additionally, you will guide the team through capacity planning, performance tuning, and incident retrospectives, champion developer experience by shaping internal platforms and tooling, and ultimately scale with quality, ensuring reliable guest and homeowner experiences at scale.
