Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age; must have a high school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities, or successful completion of training in the Missouri Quality Outcomes approved by the Division of DD regional office
  • Must have a reliable means of communication
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Punctuality and excellent attendance are essential
  • Good computer skills
  • Must possess skills to read and understand written materials and write clearly and legibly
  • Must have a working air conditioner and heater in any vehicle used for client transportation
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR, Standard First Aid, and Med Aide if administering medications
  • Physical ability for sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms; walking and standing required only occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in their daily activities and personal goals as outlined in their Individual Support Plans
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, recreational activities, and community resources
  • Provide training in personal hygiene, money management, safety, household skills, meal preparation, and medication management
  • Document client progress and maintain detailed records, including daily notes and receipts for purchases
  • Implement emergency and safety drills as specified in the Individual Safety Plan
  • Complete General Event Reports (GERs) and adhere to state guidelines
  • Attend meetings and specialized training as required
  • Complete competency-based Community Services orientation training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
