Requirements
- 5+ years relevant experience (development and strategy, understanding contracts, project management); experience in development in the Midwest or Northeast territories strongly preferred
- General business knowledge and acumen, with broad-based knowledge of development processes
- Strong written and oral communication; ability to negotiate and persuade others
- Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
- Ability to work with and manage confidential information
- Strong organizational, analytical, project, process, and budgeting skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications applicable (BA/BS/MS/MBA in engineering, environmental, or business disciplines preferred)
Responsibilities
- Execute project development strategy in the region (MISO/PJM/NYISO/ISONE power markets) for power generation projects (simple/combined cycle gas turbines, utility-scale solar, energy storage)
- Oversee all project development activities through transition to construction, including supporting real estate negotiations, securing land use/special use/environmental permitting approvals, interfacing with local/state officials, and advancing through interconnection process
- Coordinate with internal teams (interconnection, power marketing, engineering, legal, procurement) and external consultants/stakeholders for effective project execution
- Manage project schedule and budget, and report to Vistra management
- Accountable for all related aspects of project development for assigned sites (customer/utility relations, permitting, land acquisition, stakeholder relations, project schedule)
- Work with origination team to cultivate customer relationships in the region
- Work closely with internal/external resources on project transactions
- Drive profitability of utility-scale projects on assigned sites
- Develop and deliver commercial/utility-scale battery storage and solar projects to successful close
- Work with internal Construction and Operations teams on efficient hand-offs throughout the development lifecycle
