Requirements

Candidates must have substantial experience as a Data Protection Officer and possess excellent communication, negotiation, influencing, and interpersonal skills. Expertise in UK and EU data protection laws, including an in-depth understanding of the UK GDPR, is essential. The role also requires technical knowledge of current data management and communication technologies, as well as experience with continuous improvement activities. CIPP/E, CIPT, or ISM certifications and advanced report writing experience are desirable.

Responsibilities

The Data Protection Officer will design and deliver reviews to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, and PECR. This includes supporting colleagues with data protection queries and incidents, developing and overseeing the Data Protection Compliance Framework, and monitoring compliance activities. The role involves acting as the primary contact for regulators and individuals, liaising with stakeholders on data processor contracts and policies, and organizing data protection awareness training for staff. Additionally, the DPO will manage data protection incidents, fulfill Article 39 UK GDPR statutory obligations, and manage a team of three colleagues.
