Requirements

  • 3-6 years as an attorney
  • Strong preference for BigLaw background with in-house experience at a high-growth company
  • JD from a top law school and current bar admission (preferably in NY, CA and/or MA)
  • Strong corporate and contract law background with exceptional drafting skills
  • In-depth knowledge of at least some of the following areas: corporate governance, employment law, commercial transactions, healthcare regulatory law, artificial intelligence, and/or compliance
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with an ability to succinctly distill, articulate, and advise on complex issues and recommended courses of action
  • A startup mindset: action bias, no job too big or too small, scrappy, a willingness to fail forward, and a sense of humor
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and think through complex, novel issues
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly master new areas of law

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of legal affairs at a rapidly growing, VC-backed healthcare AI company
  • Lead commercial and contractual deals with enterprise customers, strategic partners, and vendors (e.g., MSAs, BAAs, Partnership Agreements, Vendor Agreements), including managing multiple deal processes, working with sales team, conducting negotiations, reviewing and drafting agreements, and advising on deal terms and risks (experience negotiating enterprise SaaS agreements preferred)
  • Advise on regulatory matters, including HIPAA, applicable state laws, and emerging AI rules and regulations
  • Serve as a cross-functional partner to teams (e.g., People, Product, Sales, Customer Success) to advise on various issues, balancing legal and commercial considerations
  • Build and scale the legal department, including identifying gaps and proposing solutions, designing and implementing processes, and ensuring ongoing business compliance
  • Partner with the VP of Legal in overseeing all legal affairs and building the legal function from the ground up
