Requirements

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree, be an active member of at least one U.S. state bar, and have 8 or more years of legal experience specializing in privacy, data protection, and technology law. In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant frameworks is required, as is strong academic credentials. A CIPP/E or CIPP/US certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Senior Privacy Counsel will develop, implement, and oversee Vimeo’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with global data protection laws. They will provide expert legal guidance on privacy and data protection matters related to product development, marketing, and third-party partnerships, draft and update privacy policies and agreements, collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed privacy-by-design principles, lead privacy training programs, manage data breaches and security incidents, and stay current with evolving legal requirements. The role also involves supervising a Privacy Program Manager and engaging with regulators when necessary.
