Alteryx is seeking a business-minded, technology-focused attorney to support the team responsible for privacy, product, and AI counsel in the role of Senior Counsel, Product and Privacy. You will leverage your expertise, good judgment, and strong business sense to carry out the company’s privacy and product imperatives while counseling product, platform, engineering, data science, security and other teams to develop thoughtful strategies towards product development and licensing to assess and mitigate legal risk. You will have a deep understanding of the technical capabilities of Alteryx’s products and the company’s product roadmap and will work closely with product and engineering leaders on various product initiatives and related privacy and AI compliance matters. To excel in this role, you must have or quickly develop a comprehensive understanding and practical knowledge of laws and regulations across multiple legal disciplines, such as emerging technologies, data governance, open source, privacy, and artificial intelligence. This role reports directly to the Head of Privacy and Product Counsel and DPO under the company’s Privacy and Product team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for product and engineering teams and help build scalable and effective review processes throughout the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, while balancing user experience and compliance considerations.
  • Implement, maintain, govern, and provide regular guidance and training on the company’s open source policies and practices and the requirements of its SDLC.
  • Assist product owners with data mapping and documenting data privacy impact and AI risk assessments and records of processing activities, updating risk registers, and developing risk mitigation plans as needed.
  • Champion privacy within the business and incorporate privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default concepts into product roadmaps, as well as provide and maintain related training and self-service materials for product and engineering teams.
  • Lead the legal and compliance arm of the company’s SDLC program by taking ownership of periodic updates to account for regulatory changes and industry best practices, through active participation with product reviews and go-live approvals, and by providing counsel as needed to remediate any deviations from the SDLC.
  • Maintain all open source guidelines and policies.
