Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and admission (or in-house eligibility) to practice law in South Korea, and/or US, or other notable Commonwealth jurisdictions
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ PQE (post-qualifying experience), with top law firm and in-house legal department experience preferred
  • Adept at advising on data/privacy protection, IP, digital media and consumer-facing and internet industries
  • Effectively bilingual: in both Korean and English (business-level, both written and spoken)
  • Attention to detail and strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Strategic, with a naturally business-friendly approach to legal problem-solving, able to provide clear, concise and practical advice, as well as creative solutions
  • Naturally curious with a strong desire to learn the business and new areas of the law
  • Thrives in novel and potentially uncomfortable situations and able to manage multiple demands and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
  • Can-do attitude, easy working collaboratively with others beyond legal, particularly business and product stakeholders
  • Strong fact-finding, drafting, negotiating, writing, and research skills

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate various commercial agreements with and for business partners across a global footprint (primarily focused on North Asia and the Middle East), including marketing, media buying and advertising, content creation and production, brand partnerships, distribution and business development, consulting and other operational and vendor agreements
  • Work closely with global teams to support the localization and roll-out of product features and initiatives, ensuring compliance with laws, political, cultural sensitivities and relevant regulations and practices
  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal teams, including product, engineering, and other strategic functions (such as tax, accounting, privacy, security, and litigation) to identify and achieve desired business outcomes while minimizing legal risk
  • Assist in administration of corporate policies and procedures, such as vendor security, privacy compliance and contract approval
  • Provide day-to-day legal support to global brands, from Azar and other novel Hyperconnect services, to supporting portfolio of dating and social discovery apps under the Match Group umbrella
