Requirements

Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. state, with a preference for experience in corporate law and contract negotiation. While experience with carbon markets is a plus, it is not required, and the ideal candidate is eager to learn and grow within the organization.

Responsibilities

As Corporate Counsel, the individual will act as a legal collaborator to all Carbon Direct teams, including Supply, Science/Advisory, and People & Culture, structuring, drafting, and navigating a broad range of agreements such as client, vendor, and carbon credit supplier contracts both nationally and internationally. They will take the lead on select legal workstreams, collaborating with colleagues and escalating when appropriate, and contribute to the creation and refinement of contract templates, internal and public-facing policies, and legal documentation, as well as assisting in designing and improving lean, scalable legal processes and systems including implementation and use of contract lifecycle tools.
