About the Role

General Motors is seeking a Content Designer to join our Operating System (OS) Design team for future vehicles. This role is critical in creating clear, intuitive software that defines how people interact with their cars.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Self-starter with strong autonomy: Comfortable identifying problem areas, tackling them independently, and sharing findings. Creates clarity rather than waiting for it to be provided.
  • Deep understanding of human interface design best practices.
  • Experience naming products and features: Ability to iterate quickly, form a clear design point of view, and navigate cross-functional feedback.
  • Strong editorial and design sensibility: Prefers fewer words in software. Thrives in environments where design comes first and writing second.
  • High comfort level with technical complexity: Quickly picks up new terminology and has experience working at scale.
  • Skilled in information architecture and taxonomy: Knows how to simplify complex menu structures.
  • Comfortable presenting to executive leadership: Can showcase work effectively and solicit meaningful feedback.
  • Proven ability to influence content standards: Has guided other writers and helped document standards.
  • Kind, collaborative, and easy to work with: Builds strong relationships and contributes to a positive team culture.
  • Proficient in Figma.

Additional Strengths Valued

  • Experience evolving legacy products into their next iteration.
  • Prior work on an operating system.
  • Experience designing content for non-traditional interfaces (e.g., automotive, voice, or wearable devices).

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $158,500 - $242,900
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
