Principal Software Engineer - Computational Chemistry / Molecular Dyna…
Genesis Therapeutics- Full Time
- Junior (1 to 2 years)
Candidates should possess a PhD in computational biology, genomics, systems biology, or a related field, or alternatively, a master’s degree coupled with 1-3 years of relevant industry experience. They must be highly proficient in R, Python, and Bash, and demonstrate strong foundational data analysis skills, including data cleaning, QC assessments, basic statistical principles, and hypothesis generation. Proficiency in building and running automated preprocessing workflows for various data types, such as (sc)RNAseq or ATAC-seq, is required, along with experience utilizing a high-performance computing cluster and/or cloud computing environment.
The Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist will analyze and mine genome-wide next-generation sequencing datasets, including single-cell and bulk RNA-seq data, ATAC-seq data, and collaborate closely with bioinformaticians and bench scientists to deliver scientific results and data visualizations. They will monitor and interpret changes in employment legislation across North America and develop HR policies to ensure compliance. They will conduct audits, deliver training, and advise management on HR-related risk mitigation strategies. The role involves running and maintaining automated bioinformatics pipelines, including QC assessments, differential expression, and data visualization components. They will collaborate broadly with biologists to identify ways to leverage computational data towards new hypotheses and scientific directions, as well as contribute to team code bases, using best practices for documentation and version control. The position requires functionally interacting with the Conception computational infrastructure, and translating computational findings into testable hypotheses and experimental designs.
Biotech firm developing egg cells from blood
Conception.bio focuses on improving fertility treatments through advanced biotechnology. The company has developed a method to create viable egg cells from blood samples by transforming induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into mature egg cells. This process allows women to extend their fertility, provides new options for couples facing infertility, and enables genetic screening of embryos to avoid hereditary diseases. Unlike other fertility treatment providers, Conception.bio directly serves individuals and couples, including same-sex male couples, with a unique approach to egg cell development. The goal is to lead the fertility treatment market by offering effective solutions that address the diverse needs of those seeking to conceive.
